The Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK is the Professional Leadership Body for pharmacy technicians working in the UK.
With the formation in 2010 of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), the new regulator for Pharmacy, there is a need for a leadership body specifically for pharmacy technicians; we are that organisation.
The Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK) has been in existence since 1952; always run by pharmacy technicians for pharmacy technicians.
We have tirelessly campaigned on behalf of our members to ensure the voice of pharmacy technicians is heard, beginning with our vision to register pharmacy technicians. As the only leadership body specifically for pharmacy technicians we will respond to the evolving needs of our members through the following commitments.
Our 5 commitments to members:
- Respond to the needs of pharmacy technicians
- Provide CPD support and professional development
- Actively pursue professional networking and sharing of knowledge
- Promote pharmacy technicians through active response to health care policy
- Support advanced roles for pharmacy technicians
Mission Statement
APTUK aims to work on behalf of pharmacy technicians and in partnership with other pharmacy organisations to help deliver professional excellence. The APTUK will promote professionalism in pharmacy technicians and support the spread of evidence-based best practice amongst it’s members. APTUK will provide the highest level of support in the most cost-effective manner to help members reach and maintain their professional standards. We will recognise excellence through our awards schemes. APTUK will demonstrate, and encourage in our membership, the attitudes and behaviours associated with outstanding healthcare professionals. In all that APTUK and, by default pharmacy technicians, do, the primary focus will be the health and well being of patients
