Rachael Lemon

In her role as editor, Rachael ensures production of the Pharmacy Technician Journal (PTJ) writes and commissions articles promoting the successes and developments of technicians not only for PTJ but other pharmaceutical press.

In the nine years in her role she has been a committed officer bringing to the board excellent organisational, influencing, negotiating and change management skills that have supported APTUK with many national projects and consultations e.g. The Clarke Inquiry. Rachael is also committed to technician development locally, and has been branch secretary for the Dorset branch since September 2000. These meetings have been invaluable in offering much needed networking and communication between primary and secondary care in Dorset.
Rachael is currently a part of the management team in a NHS trust. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience of working within the NHS having been employed in acute hospital trusts for the majority of her career, during this time she has also participated in a secondment to primary care and has an understanding of the issues faced and an appreciation for the work of her colleagues in this field.

Rachael says “I first joined APTUK as a student in 1989, my senior technician at the time Mike had a shield and I remember asking what it was all about, the first “journal” I had was one piece of black and white A4 paper! I would encourage any technician with an interest in their profession to join as together we have a voice and an opportunity to be listened to at a national level. I think the fact we are now registrants with the society has proved beyond a doubt that for an organisation led by voluntary national officers all in full time employment what a fantastic job has been done. Katherine Miles our founder would be proud.”
