Media Officer - Julie Postle
Having just taken over the role of Media officer for APTUK Julie is still finding her feet. She says “I see my role developing as part of the communication team. The team role is to ensure communication within APTUK, with its members and other organisations that we deal with.”
Julie qualified in 1983 and left Cardiff to move to Cambridge as a rotational Technician at Addenbrookes Hospital. After 2 years she took a rotational post at Bristol Royal Infirmary and was offered a senior post a few months later. After 4 years in this post she moved back to Wales in 1991 as Senior Technician in the dispensary at the University Hospital of Wales. This was an incredibly challenging role in a busy but friendly dispensary, here, Julie gained her NVQ4 in management studies as well as expanding her hands on management experience. Julie didn’t get itchy feet again until 1997 when shemoved yet again. As a lifestyle choice Julie took a lower grade rotational post at Poole General Hospital. Within a year she was offered the Dispensary Manager post at Southampton General Hospital and managed this incredibly busy dispensary for 4 years. Along with a very forward thinking team, she developed an efficient technician led dispensary. Julie once again moved back to Wales in 2001, to her present post. As senior technician prescribing support and clinical governance Julie is involved with all aspects of medicines safety. She has developed a database for unlicensed medicines use, and works closely with the clinical governance department, theming medication incidents as well as working as an ACT and discharge technician.
