President - Steve Acres
In his role as President, Steve is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of APTUK, representing APTUK in dealings with other organisations and acting as an ambassador for both the Association and all pharmacy technicians
Steve qualified as a pharmacy technician in 1980 at the Army School of Dispensing in Colchester. His career in the Armed Forces saw him working as a pharmacy technician in military hospitals, military primary care and operational medical logistics. Following a transfer to the RAF in 1994 Steve worked in manpower planning and was the training manager for the RAF Medical Branch. During this time, Steve was also the Trade Specialist Officer for RAF Pharmacy Technicians with responsibility for advising on all aspects of their recruitment, training, trade development and postings.
After leaving the RAF in 2002 Steve worked for AAH pharmaceuticals for a short while before becoming Chief Technician Training and Education at University Hospitals of Leicester. In November 2003 Steve became pharmacy service manger at Leicester Royal Infirmary a post he held until January 2009. Steve now works as a special projects business development manager at NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland
