General Pharmaceutical Council agrees further reduction  in registration fees for pharmacy technicians

The governing Council of the GPhC today agreed a further reduction in pharmacy technician registration fees. The 10% reduction follows a significant reduction last year and will take effect from 15 Oct 2012. Pharmacist fees were also reduced by 10% while premises fees remain unchanged. APTUK President, Steve Acres said, “We have lobbied hard for a reduction in fees for pharmacy technicians and it is good to see that our voice is being heard with a  year on year reduction  since the GPhC was formed in 2010”.

During the consultation on fees, APTUK urged the GPhC to undertake further work on understanding the cost of registering pharmacy technicians. We have asked that consideration be given to aligning the cost of pharmacy technician registration with other similar professions such as those registered with the Health Professions Council.
