CPPE: leadership training places available

Applications are now open for the next 15 cohorts on the Mary Seacole leadership programme.

The Mary Seacole leadership programme is designed to develop clinical leadership and management skills to enable pharmacy professionals drive quality services in community pharmacy and really make a difference to the health of the patients they see.

Funded via the Pharmacy Integration Fund (PhIF), the programme offers learners the opportunity to take the next step in building on previous leadership training they may have done through the healthy living pharmacy initiative. It is also suitable for those embarking on clinical leadership training for the first time.

Learning is in the form of a six-month interactive online course with support from an online tutor. The course comprises 12 modules, which contain peer discussion groups.

In addition to the online component of the course, there are three compulsory one-day workshops. In the workshops, participants will practise clinical leadership behaviours and examine the impact these may have on others.

At the end of the programme, learners will submit a 2,000-word assignment and, on successful completion of this and the programme, will receive the nationally recognised NHS Leadership Academy Award in Healthcare Leadership.

Why apply?

The pharmacy profession is changing, with a vision for community pharmacy to become more integrated into the wider healthcare team with a key role in medicines optimisation. The leadership programme will actively encourage participants to consider the importance of this change and what this means, taking into consideration workplace behaviours to implement change in community pharmacy.

How to apply

Applications are now open for all 15 upcoming cohorts across England. The next two cohorts are in Manchester and Bristol, applications for which close on July 10 and July 12 respectively.

To apply, pharmacy professionals must complete the online registration form through the NHS Leadership Academy’s NHSx platform. Applicants will need to register for an NHSx account before accessing the application form.

More information can be found in the ‘Six reasons to apply for the Mary Seacole programme’ document on the CPPE website.
