Welcome to the fourth module in our series looking at the NHS DMS. It is based on the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE) NHS Discharge Medicines Service: improving outcomes for patients transferring care e-learning programme, and is designed to give pharmacy technicians an overview and better understanding of this area of practice.

Learning objectives

  • Understand the role of community pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in the NHS DMS
  • Be aware of what’s involved in the collecting and checking of information about a patient’s medicines and the key contacts needed
  • Know the role of GP/PCN pharmacy professionals in the NHS DMS.
