April 2021
In light of the recently published commission’s report into racial and ethnic disparities in the UK, we want to reassure our members that the APTUK continue to be fully committed to equality, diversity and inclusion within our organisation, membership and wider profession. We believe all forms of racism and discrimination are unacceptable and not to be tolerated.
We will continue to be informed by the wealth of evidence that demonstrate health inequalities are further driven by structural racism, and will continue to listen to the experiences of our diverse membership and reflect their views in all we do. Only by valuing each other, respecting difference and recognising how this makes us stronger will we create a more unified profession.
APTUK are dedicated to fulfilling its commitment to members to strive to address the barriers and discrimination faced by individuals from Black, Asian and other ethnicities, and the commitments made in the work details below.

Demographic Data
The APTUK does not currently obtain demographic data on gender, ethnicity, or age. Collating this data will enable APTUK to report on membership representation and set inclusive objectives. We are currently working on the most efficient ways to gather this data and updating policies to hold and use it. We will inform all members when we are ready to collect this data and how we will collect and use it.
