APTUK Champions are self-motivated pharmacy technicians with more than 2 years’ experience and knowledge to help support early years Pharmacy Technicians using the APTUK Foundation Pharmacy Framework (FPF).

APTUK Champions will help APTUK members know how the APTUK Foundation Pharmacy Framework can:

  • support career development and enhance their skills
  • be a tool to provide evidence of their competence, knowledge and skill
  • support them with a change in practice/return to work

Champion Specification - becoming an APTUK Champion

Overview of the champion role:

The Champion training programme is designed to equip self-motivated pharmacy technicians with more than 2 years’ experience and knowledge to support early years Pharmacy Technicians using the APTUK Foundation Pharmacy Framework(FPF). Champions will be assigned to a local branch to support members with using the FPF, evidence gathering and sharing of best practice.

Champions who do not wish to be or do not live locally to an APTUK Branch are invited to join a database so that they can provide support locally/virtually to APTUK members who also don’t have access to a local branch.

The FPF Champion is a developmental and facilitating role, its aim is to empower early years PTs with supporting their own professional progression and professionalism.

  • Overview FPF
  • Scenarios / Case Studies
  • Coaching/Facilitation skills
  • Signposting/Resources

 

What is expected?

  • Committed to linking with local branches and/or APTUK members who do not have local access
  • List of Champions on members area of website to include locality and practice base area so that members can contact electronically for support
  • Meet using WebEx on a quarterly basis to provide feedback / support network

 

Champion commitments and desired qualities:

Champions will be:

  • Full APTUK members
  • Pharmacy Technicians with more than 2 years’ experience
  • Committed to attend a one day 'Champion' training event to support skills development and ongoing ‘Champion’ role CPD
  • Interested in supporting early years Pharmacy Technicians, using the APTUK FPF as a tool
  • Committed to linking with local branches and/or APTUK members who do not have local access
  • Enthusiastic, passionate and committed to developing the future pharmacy technician profession
