Framework Approval

Applications open for mapping and approval of post registration education and training provisions against APTUK national frameworks.

We are pleased to announce that expressions of interest for approval of course/programme provision to the APTUK/PCPA National Competency Framework for Primary Care Pharmacy Technicians and the APTUK National Education Framework for the Final Accuracy Checking of Dispensed Medicines and Products by assessment panel are open and should be made by email to approval@aptuk.org.

To ensure a standardised and consistent approach to the reviewing of applications and the mapping of training and assessment programmes to APTUK Frameworks by the delegated approval panels.

APTUK has been working to develop a process by which education and training providers can submit their relevant training provision for mapping and approval against national framework standards. Programmes that meet the relevant standards will be credentialed and permitted to use an APTUK approval logo (and any other professional bodies involved in the approval process) to demonstrate that the programme meets the requirements of the relevant national standard.  A robust credentialing process would ensure a standardised and consistent approach to the reviewing of applications and the mapping of training and assessment courses/programmes to national framework by the delegated approval panels.

There are currently 2 national frameworks to which this process applies (click on the title below to access the framework documents):

Providers will be contacted with the relevant application forms and approval process map which outlines the timescales and the process. Providers will be required to submit their full application with supporting documentation at least 4 weeks prior to the panel approval date. Approval panels for APTUK/PCPA National Competency Framework for Primary Care Pharmacy Technicians and the APTUK National Education Framework for the Final Accuracy Checking of Dispensed Medicines and Products are scheduled for the following dates*:

30th September 2022

15th November 2022

(*Dates subject to change due to approval panel member availability)

Please note: A fee of £1,500 is payable for applications that proceed to panel assessment. This fee covers the administrative and approval panel costs related to the process

Please feel free to contact Mary Carter (APTUK - PCPT Lead) at approval@aptuk.org or Amy Laflin, Education Director at educationdirector@aptuk.org if you have any questions.
