The APTUK Board of Directors is delighted to announce that Amy Laflin has been appointed as the next APTUK President
Commencing 7th November 2025.
Amy is the current APTUK Interim President and Vice President, and prior to that held the role of Education Director and National Officer within APTUK, volunteering since 2018. Amy has been a pharmacy technician for 13 years, worked within Pharmacy for over 20 years and currently works as Programme Lead for Pharmacy, Dental and Science within the West Suffolk College, part of the Eastern Education group.
When asked about her new role, Amy said:
“It is with heartfelt gratitude and immense pride that I share the news of my appointment as President of APTUK, following the recent nomination process. I am truly honoured to have been entrusted with this role and to continue serving our vibrant and dedicated community of pharmacy technicians.
I remain deeply committed to the values that define APTUK—professionalism, integrity, collaboration, inclusion, and visionary leadership. These principles guide my work every day, and I will continue to advocate for the recognition, development, and empowerment of our profession across all sectors.
Having served as Interim President over the past five months, I have witnessed the strength and passion within our community and profession, and I look forward to continuing to lead with purpose, ensuring our profession remains visible, valued, and equipped to deliver exceptional care.
I am dedicated to supporting both the APTUK executive team and the APTUK members, working together to build a bright future for pharmacy technicians across the UK. Together, we are stronger.”
Amy was the sole nominee and under the APTUK Standing Orders, the Board of Directors and Executive committee have validated the nomination and concluded that it meets the requirements for the role.
The President is a Director of APTUK and is the lead ambassador for the organisation. They are responsible for providing strategic professional leadership by working with the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and other stakeholders to establish long term goals, strategies, and policies.
The role of the President bears significant responsibility, accountability, and authority within the organisation to ensure plans are developed and implemented and is a key representative for the pharmacy technician profession.
Term of office is for a period of two (2) years from November 2025 – November 2027.
The Board of Directors have provided the following statement:

This is a critical time for pharmacy technicians as the profession undergoes significant evolution and Amy’s dedication to APTUK, and the profession is unrivalled. Amy has been strong and supportive both as vice president and in recent months, interim president. She advocates tirelessly for the pharmacy technician profession and has shown strong leadership even in challenging situations, always remaining professional. Amy is experienced, knowledgeable of APTUK vision and standards and demonstrates strength in her values and vision to lead APTUK.”
