Call for Evidence - Clinical Academic Careers in Pharmacy

On 9th May 2022, NHS England and NHS Improvement launched a UK-wide call for evidence on clinical academic careers in pharmacy.  

NHS England and NHS Improvement would like to hear from individuals and organisations about the best ways to boost opportunities for pharmacy professionals to take part in research. Findings will inform proposals to develop pathways for clinical academic careers in pharmacy.

To take part in the call for evidence:

  • Pharmacy technicians who are research active or would like to be, should follow the link for the individual survey.
  • Organisations that have been successful in developing initiatives to support pharmacy professionals to undertake research or would like to develop these initiatives, should follow the link for the organisation survey.

Survey closes 5pm 3rd June 2022.

David Webb, Chief Pharmaceutical Officer for England, said: “I’m delighted to launch our UK-wide Call for Evidence on Clinical Academic Careers in Pharmacy,  to identify and understand examples of local initiatives that can be used as an evidence base to inform the development of future clinical academic research pathways in pharmacy. Together, we can shape this important work for the future of our profession; determining how best to build research capacity and capability into pharmacy professional practice.”

This work is being carried out with the support of the Pharmacy Schools Council, General Pharmaceutical Council, Health Education England, National Institute for Health and Care Research, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and the Chief Pharmaceutical Officers from the Devolved Administrations.
