Closure of the temporary register

The temporary register for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians will close on 30 September 2022

Following a government announcement earlier this year, the temporary register for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians will close on 30 September 2022. This means that pharmacists and pharmacy technicians on the temporary register will no longer be able to practise after this date, without joining the main register.

All temporary registrants have been sent an email to remind them what the closure of the temporary register means, and what they need to do. The regulators urge everyone to apply now to re-join the main register if they want to continue practising after 30 September.

If you are currently on thetemporary register, you will need to successfully complete an application and pay the appropriate registration fee to re-join the main register. If it has been more than 12 months since you were last included on the main register, you will also need to complete a portfolio of evidence to show how you meet the registration criteria. Applicants will need to allow at least a month for the regulators to evaluate your portfolio and process your application.

Please visit the GPhC website for about more information about re-joining the register..
