This year’s theme for Islamophobia awareness month is “Seeds of Change”, with a specific emphasis on how small actions can lead to impactful change. This could be starting a conversation about inclusion, questioning someone's views with inquisition, or something more – we can all plant a seed of change and help tackle Islamophobia. APTUK are committed to valuing diversity and fostering an inclusive culture in our profession, and are delighted to welcome Halima Dagia as a guest speaker for an informative webinar:

Our guest speaker is Halima Dagia (Chartered MCIPD), Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager, South East London ICB and Former Co-Chair of the National NHS Muslim Network.
Halima began her NHS journey as a University Hospitals of Leicester medical records clerk in 2009 while still studying at university.
Over the past 15 years, her career path has evolved to include key roles in complaints management and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). Halima's personal experiences with bullying and Islamophobia inspired her to pursue a Master’s in Human Resource Management, fuelling her passion to make workplaces and patient care more inclusive for everyone.
Her passion and commitment to EDI led to her promotion as a BAME Project Lead. Halima has also co-chaired the National NHS Muslim Network, growing it from 800 to over 3,000 members. Through a focused strategy, she championed the development of Muslim colleagues, raised awareness of Islam and Islamophobia, and fostered allyship across the NHS. Her impactful work has earned her numerous awards, including recognition as one of the Top 50 Influential Muslims in Europe by EqualityX, Top 75 GEMS BAME Leader by Seacole Group, ‘Organisational EDI Champion’ - APNA NHS, and ‘Outstanding Achievement of the Year’ at the National BAME Health & Care Awards.
In her current role as the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Manager for NHS South East London Integrated Care Board, Halima continues to advocate for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and allyship, ensuring that NHS colleagues feel seen, supported, and empowered.
