Joint Statement from General Pharmaceutical Council,
Supporting Reflective Practice

Dear members

The Chief Executive of The General Pharmaceutical Council, Duncan Rudkin along with eight other healthcare regulators has published a joint statement on the importance and benefits of being a reflective practitioner.

The statement discusses the importance of adapting reflective practice in our daily work pattern and sets out each organisations requirement for reflection. See link for statement below:

The statement highlights the direct impact reflective practice can have on improving services and patient care.

The Gosport independent panel report (link below) has taught pharmacy some important lessons and reflecting on the incidents that happened will surely help in improve our practice and most importantly patient care.

Reflection is an important part of the revalidation process for pharmacy professionals. For this year, reflection is linked to the professional standards 3, 6 and 9.

As the Leadership body for Pharmacy Technicians, the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK will endeavour to provide appropriate resources and support to its members which will enable them to carry out reflective practice.
