Framework Approval

Applications open for mapping and approval of post registration education and training provisions against APTUK national frameworks.

We are pleased to confirm that educatiuon providers can now apply to APTUK for approval of course/programme provision to the APTUK/PCPA National Competency Framework for Primary Care Pharmacy Technicians and the APTUK National Education Framework for the Final Accuracy Checking of Dispensed Medicines and Products by assessment panel.

To ensure a standardised and consistent approach to the reviewing of applications and the mapping of training and assessment programmes to APTUK Frameworks by the delegated approval panels.

APTUK has been working to develop a process by which education and training providers can submit their relevant training provision for mapping and approval against national framework standards.

Programmes that meet the relevant standards will be credentialed and permitted to use an APTUK approval logo (and any other professional bodies involved in the approval process) to demonstrate that the programme meets the requirements of the relevant national standard.

A robust credentialing process ensures a standardised and consistent approach to the reviewing of applications and the mapping of training and assessment courses/programmes to national framework by the delegated approval panels.

There are currently 2 national frameworks to which this process applies (click on the title below to access the framework documents):

All enquiries shoudl be made to approval@aptuk.org. Providers will then be contacted with the relevant application forms.

Following receipt of application and supporting documentation, APTUK will work with a panel to review the programme and will provide an initial response to each application within 4 weeks of the submission date from the training provider.

This approach makes for a timely approval process for training providers as well as ensuring the quality of provisions of education for post registration Pharmacy Technicians.

Please note: A fee of £1,500 is payable for applications that proceed to panel assessment. This fee covers the administrative and approval panel costs related to the process

Please feel free to contact Amy Laflin, Education Director at educationdirector@aptuk.org if you have any questions.
