Framework Approval

In Key resources

We are pleased to announce that expressions of interest for approval of course/programme provision to the APTUK/PCPA National Competency Framework for Primary Care Pharmacy Technicians by this first assessment panel are open and should be made by email to approval@aptuk.org by Friday 23rd July 2021.

To ensure a standardised and consistent approach to the reviewing of applications and the mapping of training and assessment programmes to APTUK Frameworks by the delegated approval panels.

APTUK has been working to develop a process by which education and training providers can submit their relevant training provision for mapping and approval against national framework standards. Programmes that meet the relevant standards will be credentialed and permitted to use an APTUK approval logo (and any other professional bodies involved in the approval process) to demonstrate that the programme meets the requirements of the relevant national standard.  A robust credentialing process would ensure a standardised and consistent approach to the reviewing of applications and the mapping of training and assessment courses/programmes to national framework by the delegated approval panels.

There are currently 2 national frameworks to which this process applies (click on the title below to access the framework documents):

APTUK has worked to develop and implement a process as priority for the APTUK/PCPA National Competency Framework for Primary Care Pharmacy Technicians in order to meet the demand to have this process in place to facilitate and drive future changes to the delivery of education and training for the primary care pharmacy technician workforce.

The first approval panel for the credentialing of primary care pharmacy technician education and training programmes will be assembled on 15th September 2021*
