APTUK Statement

APTUK Statement on the commission into professional leadership in pharmacy

Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK are aware of the announcement made by the NHS England and Improvement Chief Pharmaceutical Officer, David Webb on behalf of the four UK Chief Pharmaceutical Officers today at Clinical Pharmacy Congress. The news announcing a review of professional leadership is welcomed. APTUK are looking forward to working with the review to support the processes moving forward to ensure Pharmacy Technician professional leadership supports government and patient healthcare aspirations. We will update our members with further information in due course.

APTUK believe that the pharmacy professions require effective and sustainable professional leadership to deliver best possible health outcomes for patients. Professional leadership bodies that work collaboratively and inclusively are key to delivering this.

Professional development of Pharmacy Technicians should be led by the expertise from within the profession. APTUK look forward to working closely with the review team and reflecting on the outcomes to determine how best the Pharmacy profession can support excellent patient centred care, through equitable professional education and support.
