Calling all Pharmacy Technician Education and Training Providers! Expressions of interest for approval of course/programme provision to the APTUK/PCPA National Competency Framework for Primary Care Pharmacy Technicians and the APTUK National Education Framework for the Final Accuracy Checking of Dispensed Medicines and Products by assessment panel are open

Expressions of interest for approval of course/programme provision to the APTUK/PCPA National Competency Framework for Primary Care Pharmacy Technicians and the APTUK National Education Framework for the Final Accuracy Checking of Dispensed Medicines and Products by assessment panel are open

APTUK provide a process by which education and training providers can submit their relevant training provision for mapping and approval against the national framework standards. Programmes that meet the relevant standards will be formally approved by the panel and permitted to use an APTUK approval logo (and any other professional bodies involved in the approval process) to demonstrate that the programme meets the requirements of the relevant national standard.  A robust approval process ensures a standardised and consistent approach to the reviewing of applications and the mapping of training and assessment courses/programmes to national framework by the delegated approval panels.

There are currently 2 national frameworks to which this process applies:

APTUK has worked to develop and implement a process as priority in order to facilitate and drive future changes to the delivery of education and training for the primary care pharmacy technician workforce.

The next approval panel for the frameworks will be assembled on 9th June 2022*

Expressions of interest for approval of course/programme provision by assessment panel are open and should be made by email to approval@aptuk.org by Thursday 12th May 2022.

Providers will be contacted with the relevant application forms and approval process map which outlines the timescales and the process. Providers will be required to submit their full application with supporting documentation at least 2 weeks prior to the panel approval date. Approval panels for APTUK/PCPA National Competency Framework for Primary Care Pharmacy Technicians and and the APTUK National Education Framework for the Final Accuracy Checking of Dispensed Medicines and Products are scheduled for the following dates*:

9th June 2022

15th November 2022

(*Dates subject to change due to approval panel member availability)

Please note: A fee of £1,500 is payable for applications that proceed to panel assessment. This fee covers the administrative and approval panel costs related to the process.
